The Beginning
It started with an idea.
An idea that dance could go beyond the studio walls, the competitions and the auditions to make a tangible difference in the world. An idea that dance can become a powerful catalyst igniting hope, unity and change where it is needed most. An idea that dance can be used to spread awareness about social issues affecting our world.
Over a season of experimental beginnings, a small team of dance minded individuals formed in New York City. Each shared a commitment to this idea. With hard work and dedication, they turned this idea into Dance For Change.
Today, Dance For Change is a recognized 501c3 non-profit organization. Our compassionate team of dancers and non dancers, pro level to barely beginners, ballerinas to hip hop artists, are committed to creating a culture where serving the world takes center stage.

Long Term Community Programs
We partner with local organizations and government agencies to plan, create and implement reocurring dance related programs lasting a year or more which benefit the community. Whether it's hosting fitness classes to women in physical and substance abuse recovery centers, providing dance therapy classes to victims of sexual abuse, or working with youth in an after school hip hop class, expanding long term services to meet the needs of people is the heart of what we do.

As a start up non-profit, our needs fall into a wide range! From dancers who choreograph performances, lawyers who draft up our bylaws, instructors who teach our classes at recovery centers, photographers who create beautiful images for our website, our success grows only because of your generosity in giving of your time and talents.
